What are databases?

Databases are valuable collections of copyright-protected magazine articles, videos, encyclopedias, primary sources and more.

Using databases....

  • Provides access to copyrighted materials, most of which may not be freely available on the internet
  • Provides access to professionally written articles, books, video content, images, primary sources, literature, and you don't have to worry about whether the sources are credible/authoritative or not
  • Elevates the detail and quality of the information you gather
  • Allows you to combine terms and filter out resources so the results are much more manageable and relevant than a random internet search
  • Speeds scholarly research
  • Provides citations for the resources that you can use in your Works Cited page as well as a link (a stable URL) that provides a location for the source
